This article will help you with Navigating Data Studio.

Prerequisite:

Navigating Data Studio

Data Studio provides you with visibility and interactivity with the data within your Syncari unified data model. After you have completed Publishing Pipelines and the Sync Cycle has started, you can use Data Studio to explore your data.

Navigate to Data Studio and familiarize yourself with the relevant features.

Overview

After Publishing Pipelines, selecting an Entity within Data Studio will enable you to take advantage of a variety of capabilities. There are several ways you can interact with the data within Data Studio.

Data Studio Main Interface

  1. Click this menu to access Data Studio
  2. This menu provides a list of Published Entities and Reference Data options
  3. This feature enables you to Filter Data in Data Studio
  4. These icons in column headers enable you to quickly filter and sort records by that column
  5. This menu provides options to Export data, Configure table columns, Edit all records, View past edits, Delete all records, and View past deletions

Additional features in the Data Studio interface:

  • Hover over the ID Mapping Icon to display the IDs of the records that are unified in this Entity
  • You can select a Record within the Dataset in Data Studio to view its details
  • Use the page navigation at the bottom to view more records and move forward or back within the Dataset

Understanding the Interface

Entity Selector

At the top of the page, you can select which entity you want to work with from the dropdown menu. The menu shows the entity name and how many records it contains. For example, "Account (8003 records)".

You can also access Reference Data from this same dropdown menu by clicking on the Reference Data section.

Create Record Button

The blue Create Record button in the top right corner lets you add a new record to your entity. When you click it, a form opens where you can fill in the details for the new record. Syncari will validate the data types and require at least one attribute value to be entered. Data profiling and merge rules will be applied based on your entity configuration in Schema Studio.

Filter Button

Click the Filter button to create advanced filter conditions. This lets you build complex queries to narrow down your dataset based on multiple criteria.

Quick Filter and Sort

Each column in the table has icons that let you filter and sort your data:

Filter by column - Click the filter icon to show only records matching specific values. Note that quick filters have some limitations:

  • Only parent-level predicates are displayed in the quick filter
  • Limited to 1 filter condition per column
  • Filter option is disabled for complex filters when the column is used in nested filter conditions or has multiple filter conditions

Sort by column - Click the up or down arrow to sort records in ascending or descending order by that column.

Actions Menu

The three-dot menu at the top right gives you access to:

  • Export - Download your data as a CSV file
  • Configure table columns - Choose which columns to show or hide
  • Edit all records - Make changes to multiple records at once
  • View past edits - See what changes were made to records
  • Delete all records - Remove multiple records based on filter criteria
  • View past deletions - See what records were deleted

Record Actions

When you hover over any record row, you will see three buttons on the right:

Record Action Buttons

  • Lineage - View where the record came from and where it goes
  • Edit Record - Make changes to the record
  • Delete Record - Remove the record
